Verity Leung

Fifteen-year-old Verity Leung studies piano with Wayne Weng in Vancouver, Canada. She has participated in masterclasses with Wha Kyung Byun, Stanislav Ioudenitch, Krzysztof Jablonski, Boris Slutsky, Dang Thai Son, Ilana Vered, and the late John Perry. Verity’s playing has been described as “sensitively nuanced” and “artistically thoughtful” with “beautiful fluency and facile flair”.
Verity is the recipient of many piano awards on the provincial and national levels. She won First Places in the 2021 and 2022 Canadian Music Competition, and the 2021, 2023 and 2024 B.C. Provincials. She won the solo piano category in the Canada West Performing Arts Festival in 2024, among provincial winners from B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan. She was a finalist of the Kaufman International Youth Piano Competition in New York City in 2024. Verity is three-time Gold Medalist of the Royal Conservatory of Music: 2018, 2022 and most recently in 2024 for National ARCT Piano. In 2025, Verity was the Overall Prize winner in the Steinway Competition, and she was selected to participate in Morningside Music Bridge held at New England Conservatory. Verity seeks to communicate the beauty of classical music to enrich the community at large. Her CD album Childhood Memories through the Ages in 2020 and charity concert In Veritate et Caritate in 2024 raised over $45,000 to support refugee claimants in Vancouver.
Outside of piano and philanthropy, Verity is a passionate parkour practitioner, percussionist, and poet. Verity has a black belt in Taekwondo, and she is a debate coach in the community.
