Timmy Zhang

Zhiyuan (Timmy) Zhang, a 15 year-old Canadian pianist and cellist who currently lives in Toronto and attends 10th grade at Upper Canada College and the Taylor Academy at the Royal Conservatory of Music. Raised in Canada, Zhiyuan has been dedicated to music since the age of six. He focuses primarily on the cello, currently studying under Paul Widner, in addition to performing for world-renowned cellists like Tom Wiebe, Katie Schlaikjer, Oleksander Mycyk, Christine Lee, and Bryan Epperson. At age 13, he completed his piano ARCT diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music and placed 3rd in the Ontario strings division of the 2025 Canadian Music Competition at age 14. In the summer of 2025, he attended the well-known Young Artists Orchestra program at Boston University Tanglewood Institute, spending six weeks training with fellow musicians around the world.
In his free time, he also plays flute and bass, adding additional experience in chamber music and jazz ensembles.
