Junyi (Summer) Li is a 10-year-old cellist who has been deeply passionate about music from a young age. She began learning the cello at the age of 6 and quickly displayed exceptional musical talent. From the very start, she found joy in expressing herself through music, seeing it not just as practice but as a way to communicate emotions, tell stories, and explore endless possibilities. At the age of 8, Summer immigrated to Canada with her parents and continued developing her skills, deepening her understanding of music. Under the guidance of cellist Christopher Hwang, she refined her technique and artistic expression. Her dedication and passion led her to earn admission to The Taylor Academy at The Royal Conservatory in Toronto, where she currently studies under David Hetherington. She actively participates in music festivals and competitions, gradually gaining recognition for her exceptional musical ability and expressive performances. With every note she plays, Summer’s love for music continues to grow. She aspires to become an internationally influential cellist, sharing the beauty of music with audiences around the world-just like her idol, Yo-Yo Ma.
