Zicheng (Clara) Wang was born in Beijing in 2012 and began studying flute at the age of seven. Now based in Toronto, Clara studies with Susan Hoeppner, faculty member at the University of Toronto and The Royal Conservatory of Music. She holds an ARCT Diploma in Flute Performance.

In 2026, Clara won First Prize in Category A1 (ages 14-17) at the 4th Moyse International Flute Competition in Bulgaria. She has also received top awards in several North American competitions, including First Prize at the Crescendo International Music Competition (2023), Second Prize nationally in her division at the Canadian Music Competition (2025), and First Prize in the Open Class at the Ontario Music Festivals Association Provincial Finals (2025). At the age of 12, Clara made her Carnegie Hall debut as a winner of the Crescendo International Music Competition. A year earlier, she was featured as a young artist and concerto soloist with the Chinese Artists Society of Toronto.

Clara has had the opportunity to learn from distinguished flutists Paul Edmund-Davies, Jeffery Zook, and Camille Watts through masterclasses and lessons. She has performed in both the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra, where she was the youngest member during the 2024-2025 season.

Beyond the flute, Clara has studied piano since the age of four and holds the RCM Level 10 Certificate in Piano and enjoys playing the bassoon in school. Outside of music, she enjoys mathematics, running, and discovering good food. Clara is a student at the University of Toronto Schools.
