Christie Cheung

Christie Cheung is a 15 year old violinist who is studying at the Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, where she is under the tutelage of Dr. Conrad Chow. Christie has had the opportunity to work with renowned violinists such as Maxim Vengerov, Augustin Hadelich, Miriam Fried, Soovin Kim, Ida Kavafian, and James Ehnes.

Christie was the 1st place winner of the Oakville Chamber Orchestra (OCO) Concerto Competition, and she performed the Saint-Saƫns Violin Concerto No. 3 with OCO during the 2024-2025 season. She won the 2023 Concerto Competition at the Phil and Eli Taylor Academy, performing as a soloist. Additionally, Christie performed as a soloist with the Burlington New Millennium Orchestra and the Glenn Gould Chamber Orchestra. She has also been featured as one of the outstanding young artists during the 2023 RCM Violin Symposium.

In the summer of 2023, Christie attended the Heifetz International Institute Program, and this summer, she attended the Young Artist Institute at Chamber Music Northwest and Morningside Music Bridge.

Among her accomplishments are winning the 1st Prize in the Canimex Canadian Music Competition, receiving the Grand Trophy Award in the CCC Toronto International Music Festival, being selected as a finalist in the Ysaye International Music Competition in Belgium, and winning the 1st Prize in the Little Mozart International Competition in New York. She made her debut at the iconic Carnegie Hall at just nine years old.
